As the Middle East stands on the edge of a dangerous escalation following intensified hostilities between Israel, the United States, and Iran, Pakistan has taken a principled and firm position rooted in sovereignty, neutrality, and diplomacy.
Contrary to some speculative reports, Pakistan has not provided, permitted, or facilitated the use of its airspace, land, or maritime routes for any attack launched against Iran by any external actors. This includes the recent strikes carried out by the United States and Israel. Pakistan’s civil and military leadership remains unified in ensuring that no part of Pakistani territory is ever used to advance someone else’s war.
On the night of 21st and 22nd June, when the United States reportedly launched attacks on Iranian nuclear sites, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a clear and categorical condemnation, expressing deep concern over the escalation. Islamabad reaffirmed that such unilateral actions only fuel instability and serve no constructive purpose.
From the outset of this crisis, Pakistan has consistently condemned Israeli aggression against Iran across international platforms. This condemnation is not just symbolic. Pakistan has offered full political, diplomatic, and moral support to the Iranian people and leadership in the face of foreign attacks, reaffirming the Islamic Republic’s right to self-defense under international law.
At the same time, Pakistan has made it unambiguously clear: it will not become part of someone else’s war. Whether through alliances, block politics, or proxy arrangements, Pakistan rejects participation in any military adventure that compromises regional stability or its own national interests. The country stands firm on a doctrine of non-alignment in conflicts where peace is still possible through dialogue.
This is not a reactionary stance. It is grounded in Pakistan’s long-standing principle: every sovereign state, including Iran, has the absolute right to defend its territorial integrity. And just as Pakistan defends that right for others, it remains fully committed to preserving its own sovereignty at all costs. There is and will be no compromise on Pakistan’s national security, autonomy, or airspace integrity.
Amid these rising tensions, Pakistan continues to engage constructively with all regional and global stakeholders, urging an immediate cessation of hostilities. The goal is simple yet vital to give peace a real chance. Islamabad is advocating for sustainable, honourable, and mutually acceptable terms between all parties, not temporary ceasefires followed by deeper escalations.
In a region surrounded by fire, Pakistan has chosen not to fan the flames but to cool them with wisdom, restraint, and diplomacy. And that, in these times, is the bravest choice a nation can make.
