On May 27, 2025, Shafqat Ali Khan, Spokesperson Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Pakistan strongly condemns the recent provocative actions by Israeli occupying forces and illegal settlers aimed at undermining the religious, historical, and legal status of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

“Such actions are unacceptable,” he stated. “These Israeli actions are a blatant violation of international law,” Shafqat Ali Khan added.

He further noted that these measures could exacerbate tensions in a region already fraught with conflict. Pakistan emphasizes the need to uphold the sanctity and historical character of holy sites, said the spokesperson.

Shafqat Ali Khan also called upon the international community to prevent Israel from carrying out any further provocations. Pakistan strongly condemns the continued targeting of Palestinian civilians in Gaza, he added.

Referring to the recent Israeli attack on a school sheltering displaced families, the spokesperson termed it yet another example of Israeli aggression and unchecked oppression.

He said the distressing images emerging in the aftermath of the attack—images that include the martyrdom of dozens of people, especially children—should be a wake-up call for the international community.

“These attacks must be halted immediately,” he stressed. “The international community must hold Israel accountable for these grave crimes,” said the spokesperson. Pakistan reiterates its unwavering support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination, he said.

Pakistan calls for the establishment of an independent, sovereign, viable, and contiguous Palestinian state, Shafqat Ali Khan stated. Such a state should be based on the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, the spokesperson concluded.
