The arrest of Afghan citizen Nasir Tawhidi underscores the failures of the interim Afghan Taliban government in addressing extremist ideologies, including ISIS. His apprehension while on temporary parole in the US raises significant security concerns.

Pakistan supports the decisions of Iran, Germany, and Austria to deport illegal Afghan refugees, as the involvement of Afghan nationals in terrorist activities in both Pakistan and the United States illustrates the unchecked influence of terrorist groups thriving under the interim Taliban regime.

The Taliban’s leniency towards terrorist organizations in Afghanistan has allowed terrorism to spread beyond its borders, evidenced by Tawhidi’s alleged involvement in a failed plot in the US. His extremist beliefs, which flourished in Afghanistan, reflect the lack of control the interim Afghan government has over the environment that fosters such ideologies.

To maintain international peace, decisive action against Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP) hideouts is urgently needed.
