US President Donald Trump on Tuesday called on Iran to release unnamed women ahead of anticipated negotiations between Tehran and US representatives, as diplomatic activity continues around potential talks.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said, “To the Iranian leaders, who will soon be in negotiations with my representatives: I would greatly appreciate the release of these women.”
He added that he was confident such a move would be respected by the US side, stating, “Please do them no harm,” and described the gesture as “a great start” to upcoming discussions.

Trump did not provide further details about the identities of the women or the exact timing of the expected negotiations.
Some media reports have claimed that Iran was preparing to execute eight detained women on unspecified charges, though these reports have not been independently verified. Iranian authorities have not yet responded to Trump’s statement.
The remarks come amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding US–Iran diplomatic engagement, with both sides yet to publicly confirm detailed arrangements for the next round of talks.
