KP Apex Committee Vows to Eliminate Bunkers and Weapons in Kurram

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Apex Committee, led by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, has decided to eliminate all bunkers and collect weapons in the Kurram district as part of a comprehensive plan to restore lasting peace,

The special meeting was attended by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Corps Commander Peshawar, the KP IGP, the chief secretary, and senior civil and military officials. The security challenges in Kurram, where recent clashes have claimed over 130 lives, were reviewed in detail.

The committee emphasized that peace in Kurram hinges on removing bunkers and disarming the region. Collaborative efforts between federal and provincial governments will include dialogue with tribal elders to mediate disputes and restore order. As conditions stabilize, roads will reopen, and the uninterrupted supply of medicines and other essentials to Kurram will be ensured.

Joint Federal-Provincial Strategy for Lasting Peace

Chief Minister Gandapur reiterated the provincial government’s commitment to ensuring permanent peace in Kurram. The decision to dismantle bunkers and confiscate weapons aligns with directives from the provincial cabinet.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi assured full cooperation from the federal government, pledging enhanced support to strengthen KP’s law enforcement agencies. Both leaders paid tribute to security personnel who have sacrificed their lives in the fight against terrorism.

The meeting also highlighted steps to promote long-term stability in Kurram, including subsidized wheat for residents to address immediate needs. Civil and military officials remain focused on creating a secure environment and fostering collaboration to resolve ongoing conflicts in the region.
