Islamabad ready to work with KP for Pakistan’s interests : PM Shehbaz tells CM SOHAIL Afridi

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated Sohail Afridi on becoming Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Chief Minister. He assured that the federal government stands ready to work with KP for Pakistan’s progress. The PM stressed that national unity and coordination between provinces and the Centre are vital for stability.

This was their first call since Afridi’s election amid political tension between the PML-N-led Centre and the PTI-led province. Afridi thanked the premier and highlighted KP’s significance as home to 45 million citizens. He requested permission to meet his party leader in Adiala Jail. The PM said he would review the matter and respond soon.

Afridi told reporters his government will follow all legal and constitutional routes. He rejected the claim that PTI relies solely on protest politics, saying peaceful demonstrations are a democratic right. Afridi affirmed that “Pakistan comes first” and pledged to strengthen governance.

The CM added that his administration aims to focus on development and dialogue, not confrontation. He urged the federal government to revisit its Afghan policy to help stabilize Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. His statement drew a response from Adviser to the PM Rana Sanaullah, who said provinces must cooperate with the federal government under the Constitution.

Political analysts believe this exchange between the two leaders could ease tensions and open new channels of cooperation. The emphasis on constitutionalism and coordination reflects both sides’ recognition of the need for political balance and development in Pakistan.
