When someone undergoes a Field General Court Martial (FGCM) in the Pakistan Armed Forces, strict rules ensure fairness and confidentiality. During this process, the individual on trial can only communicate with their lawyer.

Even the lawyer is sworn to secrecy and cannot discuss the trial with anyone else until it concludes. Leaking or sharing trial details is not just unlikely but impossible under the military’s disciplined judicial system.

These measures highlight the seriousness and integrity of the military court process, which is designed to remain free from outside influence. However, many people are unaware of how this system works, making it easy for misinformation to spread.

Recently, journalist Ansar Abbasi published misleading articles in newspapers such as Jang and The News. He claimed that General Faiz dismissed charges of political connections during a review of the charge sheet.

These claims are false and appear to be an attempt to sensationalize and mislead the public. Abbasi’s portrayal of the trial as a regular court case where personal connections or unverified sources might sway outcomes demonstrates either ignorance of military court protocols or a deliberate effort to distort facts.

Military courts operate under strict guidelines where decisions are based solely on evidence and law, without room for external pressure or manipulation.

This issue underscores a larger problem in Pakistani journalism: sensationalism often takes precedence over truthful reporting. When journalists prioritize attention-grabbing headlines over accuracy, it not only confuses the public but also weakens trust in critical institutions such as the military.

The media has a responsibility to inform the public responsibly, and failing to do so undermines the credibility of journalism as a whole. Misinformation creates unnecessary conflict, especially when aimed at institutions vital to national security.

The Pakistan military has made its position clear: it remains apolitical and holds anyone involved in politics accountable. High-profile cases such as this one reaffirm the military’s commitment to discipline and ensuring that no individual is above the law.

This stance is rooted in the military’s broader mission to serve the nation without political interference. By staying neutral, the military demonstrates its focus on protecting the country’s interests and maintaining its integrity. This approach fosters a professional environment where the welfare of the nation comes first.

The military takes decisive steps to hold individuals accountable for misusing their positions for personal or political gain.

These efforts reassure the public of the military’s professionalism and ensure that justice is served. The process is thorough and transparent, further cementing the military’s reputation as a stabilizing force in the country. This transparency builds trust among citizens, showing that favoritism or bias has no place in the military’s judicial system.

In today’s fast-paced world, where misinformation spreads rapidly, it is essential for both journalists and the public to think critically and verify facts before forming opinions.

The military’s unwavering commitment to accountability is a reminder that institutions must remain true to their principles, even under pressure. By prioritizing discipline, fairness, and professionalism, the Pakistan Armed Forces continue to serve as a pillar of strength and stability for the nation.
