TTP Leader Abdul Mannan was killed in Kunar, Afghanistan’s northeastern province. Geo News reported this, citing sources on Wednesday. The terrorist, Abdul Mannan alias Hakeemullah, died in the Asadabad district. He was a member of TTP’s Malakand Shura, sources said.

TTP Leader Abdul Mannan was involved in several terror activities in Pakistan. These included target killings, landmine blasts in Bajaur, and firing at security checkposts. He also engaged in extortion. Sources mentioned he was the right hand of TTP leader Azmatullah Mehsud. Abdul Mannan played a key role in shaping terrorist operations in Bajaur.

Abdul Mannan joined the TTP in 2007. Since then, he participated in many actions against security forces and civilians, said sources. Mannan’s brother, Tariq alias Asad, is also linked to the outlawed TTP, sources added.

TTP Leader Abdul Mannan’s killing happened almost a week after law enforcement agencies conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO). They foiled TTP’s attempts to set up offices in Balochistan. According to the Counterterrorism Department (CTD), intelligence agencies detained several dangerous terrorists. These included high-value and most wanted targets.

Authorities revealed that the notorious and most wanted commander of the TTP Khawarij’s Shura was among those captured. Preliminary investigations by the agencies indicated the arrested terrorists were involved in several activities against Pakistan. They also had connections with domestic and international terrorists.

The CTD expects to obtain crucial information about the secret activities of such networks within the country. Law enforcers continue to investigate the arrested individuals.

The TTP is the leading terrorist organization in Pakistan. Currently, Afghan terrorists have hideouts in Kunar, Nuristan, Paktika, Khost, and other areas. Abdul Mannan’s death marks a significant blow to the TTP’s operations.
