    The civil-military leadership of the country on Friday resolved to protect the life and property of the people at every cost and make an example out of those who shed the blood of Pakistanis.
    The apex committee meeting was conveyed at Governor House Peshawar in the wake of a deadly bombing at Police Lines Peshawar in which more than 100 people lost their lives while many other suffered injuries. A press release issued after the meeting said that the meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and attended by Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, Federal Ministers, Governor KP, Chief Minister Sindh, caretaker Chief Ministers of Khyber Pukhtunkhwa and Punjab, Prime Minister Azad Kashmir, and Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan, federal ministers and officials of civil and military ranks.

    The press released said the forum agreed that a united approach and strategy by the center and all federating unites would be adopted to eliminate the scourge of terrorism and directed relevant authorities to formulate an effective strategy for the said purpose.

    The meeting reviewed, in detail, the prevailing law and order situation and measures taken to counter-terror incidents. IG Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muazzam Jah Ansari provided details to the committee about the ongoing investigation into the suicide attack and informed the meeting that they had identified with the help of the videos, the method and route, used by the attacker to enter the Police Lines.

    The handout said the committee reviewed the implementation of the National Action Plan and deliberated over recommendations put forward to improve NAP in accordance with changing needs. The forum also approved plans to immediately build a CTD headquarters in Khyber Pukhtunkhwa province besides establishing a Punjab-like forensic lab in the province.

    The committee decided to root out all sources of support to the terrorists within the country and making effective screening for the purpose. The forum also resolved that zero tolerance for terrorism would be the nation objective and that all decisions in this regard would be implemented with national consensus.
    The forum lauded Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif decision to convene an All Parties Conference and expressed the hope that the national leadership would join together to forge a way forward for eradication of terrorism through consensus.

    The committee urged media to continue reporting on the issue of terrorism responsibly and to avoid joining those who spread rumors on social media as such behavior is detrimental to national cohesion. Similarly religious leaders must also play their part in the elimination of the scourge of terrorism and using violence is against the teachings of Islam.
