Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban are engaged in the final round of high-level negotiations in Istanbul as both sides seek a diplomatic resolution to cross-border militancy. Mediators, including Turkiye and Qatar, have recognized Pakistan’s demands as legitimate and in the shared interest of both nations.

According to officials close to the dialogue, the Taliban delegation repeatedly adjusted its stance under instructions from Kabul, creating delays despite hours-long discussions. Pakistan has consistently emphasized the need for verifiable action against militant elements operating from Afghan soil, underscoring that such measures serve regional peace and stability.

The talks follow a temporary ceasefire agreed in Doha on October 19. Both parties aim to establish a long-term framework for peace and cooperation. Islamabad maintains that sustainable regional secu-rity depends on mutual commitment to preventing cross-border violence and ensuring accountability for those violating peace agreements.
