Balochistan CM Sarfraz Bugti reaffirmed state authority against armed groups

Quetta – Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has reaffirmed that no group of armed militants will be allowed to impose its ideology on Pakistan’s 250 million citizens. Speaking at a conference in Quetta on Saturday, Bugti declared that the province’s future lies in peace, unity, and constructive dialogue — not violence.

    Peace Returning to Balochistan

Addressing recent challenges, Bugti acknowledged that the security situation in Balochistan has worsened in recent months, with militants intensifying their activities. In February alone, the province accounted for nearly 62% of the country’s terr0r-related deaths. However, he emphasized that the tide is turning and peace is gradually returning.

    Rejecting Anti-State Narratives

Bugti described Balochistan as the heart of Pakistan, highlighting its role in interfaith harmony where different sects and religious communities live peacefully. He condemned the spread of anti-state narratives and misinformation, particularly through social media, warning that such actions fuel division and unrest.

While supporting the right to peaceful protest, he stressed that indefinite road blockades would no longer be tolerated. “Dialogue is open for those willing to lay down arms and rejoin the national fold. But those who spill innocent blood will face the full might of the state,” he said.

    Engaging Youth and Building Trust

The chief minister also highlighted the provincial government’s outreach initiatives, including jirgas and public gatherings aimed at strengthening the connection between the youth and the state. He called on religious scholars, community elders, and social leaders to counter misinformation and promote unity.

Bugti concluded with a message of hope, stating, “The sun of peace will rise in Balochistan.” On Friday, government spokesman Shahid Rind announced that mobile data services in the province would remain suspended until August 31 for secu-rity reasons. Bugti also reaffirmed his commitment to equal development across all 36 districts and youth empowerment during meetings with local delegations.
