Ishaq Dar briefed members of the Diplomatic Corps on the first anniversary of #MarkaEHaq, describing it as a symbol of national unity, resilience, and the resolve of Pakistan Armed Forces to defend the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He said Pakistan’s response during Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos was measured, lawful, and aligned with the UN Charter, emphasizing that military action was limited to targeting specific installations. He also warned of the dangers of escalation, particularly risks to civilians and broader regional stability.
Dar reiterated that the Jammu and Kashmir dispute remains a core issue driving regional tensions, calling for its resolution under United Nations frameworks. He stressed that unresolved disputes continue to undermine peace in South Asia.
He also cautioned against unilateral actions related to the Indus Waters Treaty, stating that such steps could further destabilize regional relations.
Highlighting Pakistan’s foreign policy approach, the deputy prime minister reaffirmed the country’s commitment to multilateralism, international cooperation, peacekeeping efforts, and broader global engagement.
He further briefed diplomats on Pakistan’s role in facilitating diplomatic engagement and supporting ceasefire efforts in the Gulf and wider Middle East region, presenting Islamabad as an active contributor to de-escalation initiatives.
Concluding his remarks, Dar reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to dialogue, diplomacy, and peaceful coexistence in South Asia, while underscoring the country’s resolve to safeguard sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political independence.
The briefing was part of ongoing engagement between Pakistan’s foreign office leadership and the Diplomatic Corps on key regional and global developments.
