US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said that United States expects to receive a response from Iran later today regarding Washington’s proposal aimed at ending the ongoing conflict.
Speaking to reporters in Rome, Rubio expressed hope that Tehran’s reply would open the door to serious diplomatic negotiations and help move both sides toward a potential resolution.
“We’ll see what the response entails. The hope is it’s something that can put us into a serious process of negotiation,” Rubio stated during the media interaction.
The remarks come amid continued regional tensions and renewed diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation in the Gulf. Recent clashes and military incidents have raised concerns over stability in the region, while international mediators continue pushing for dialogue between Washington and Tehran.
Reports indicate that the US proposal includes measures intended to reduce hostilities and establish a framework for broader negotiations. However, Iranian officials have yet to publicly confirm whether they will fully accept the terms or seek modifications before moving forward.
The situation remains closely watched by global powers and financial markets, particularly due to rising tensions around the Strait of Hormuz and concerns over energy security and regional stability.
