Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will undertake a four-day official visit to China from May 23 to 26, according to an announcement made by Pakistan’s Foreign Office on Friday.
The visit is being held at the invitation of the Chinese leadership and is expected to further strengthen the long-standing strategic partnership between Pakistan and China.
During a weekly media briefing in Islamabad, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi confirmed the schedule of the prime minister’s visit, describing it as highly significant for bilateral relations.
The visit comes at a historic moment as both countries celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China. According to the Foreign Office, the trip will provide an opportunity to reaffirm the enduring “all-weather strategic cooperative partnership” and advance cooperation under a shared vision for the future.
During the visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to hold high-level meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. Discussions will focus on expanding cooperation in political, economic, trade, and strategic sectors.
The prime minister will begin his visit in Hangzhou, where he will chair the Pakistan-China Business-to-Business Investment Conference. The conference will emphasize collaboration in information technology, telecommunications, energy storage, and agriculture.
He will later travel to Beijing to participate in an official ceremony marking 75 years of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
