Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has accused the United States of attempting to destabilize Iran through coordinated economic pressure and media influence, claiming that such efforts are intended to create internal divisions and force Tehran toward “surrender.”
According to remarks carried by Iran’s Fars News Agency and reported by Al Jazeera, Ghalibaf stated that Western powers are relying heavily on what he described as inaccurate intelligence and flawed reporting. He argued that decisions based on such information would ultimately lead to miscalculations with broader consequences.
He further said that the United States is placing significant hope on economic sanctions and financial pressure to achieve political objectives in Iran. However, he insisted that these strategies are based on “false reports” and are unlikely to succeed in altering Iran’s internal cohesion or strategic direction.
Ghalibaf emphasized that despite sustained economic pressure, the Iranian population would continue to endure challenges in defense of national independence. He framed Iran’s position as one of resistance, suggesting that external pressure would not achieve its intended political outcomes.
The remarks come amid ongoing tensions between Tehran and Washington, where economic sanctions, regional security disputes, and information warfare remain central points of contention. Both sides continue to accuse each other of escalation through indirect and hybrid means, even as diplomatic channels remain limited.
