The United States has signaled that its forces remain fully prepared to resume large-scale combat operations against Iran if ordered, amid ongoing tensions in the region.
According to AFP, citing remarks from the top US military leadership, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine said that US Central Command and the broader joint force are maintaining full operational readiness.
He emphasized that current restraint should not be misinterpreted as weakness, warning that US forces are capable of rapidly escalating operations if directed by political leadership.
“US Central Command and the rest of the joint force remain ready to resume major combat operations against Iran if ordered to do so,” Caine said, adding that no adversary should mistake restraint for a lack of resolve.
The statement comes at a time of heightened instability in the Gulf region, where tensions between the United States and Iran have repeatedly flared over maritime security and strategic control of key waterways.
Military officials have consistently framed US positioning as defensive in nature, while simultaneously maintaining a posture of readiness in case the situation escalates further.
The comments underscore the fragile balance in the region, where diplomatic efforts and military deterrence continue to operate in parallel amid an uncertain security environment.
